This is the One
After much debate and a little bit of overthinking (just ask my wife), I decided on the Xbox One. The reasons? With the games I like to play, I found the exclusives I enjoyed more were on Xbox One. Combined with the free games that you get with a Gold Membership and the fact that I hold out hope more of my games become backwards compatible, I went with the Xbox. Here is what I purchased
- Xbox One- 500GB version.
- I wanted to get the bigger one, but as Aaron pointed out, I don’t have a lot of time for games and won’t need the space. I got the version with Gear of War included as that is one of my all time favorite games.
- Xbox Live Gold- 12 month card
- A necessity to the point where it should be included in the cost when you plan
- Xbox Controller
- I got an additional standard controller incase my wife wants to play some games (she loves Gauntlet and all games like it)
- Assassins Creed Syndicate
- I love these games, but was told to skip Unity
The Setup and first games
- Easy setup out of the box. Everything was clearly labeled and easy to put together and hook up to my TV and my internet. I am using a wired connect due to the amount of information that will be downloaded.
- Started the update process at 10pm
- Main update ended at 10:15
- More setup!
- By 10:40pm, after having inputted all the needed codes (Xbox Gold, Gears of War, a pin number…something else, I still haven’t played a game. I downloaded the free game, Killer Instinct and want to try it.
- Well that wasn’t good. Said I was ready to start, but there were no arenas so I couldn’t play.
- Finally got Syndicate to work! Nice!!
- Played for an hour. As I like the Assassin’s Creed games, I’m enjoying this.
Since the first night, I’ve played a little bit here and there. I’m hoping for a good weekend nap by the kids to get some gaming in.
Now that I have an Xbox One, what games should I be getting? What else should I use it for?
