Yesterday was the day Apple fanboys (and Apple htrzs) look forward to. Tim Cook and the folks at Apple announced big changes to the iPad line, Apple TV, the iPhone and they mentioned the Apple Watch too. Let’s dive in and see how I did with my prognosticating.
To recap- I said there would be a new iPhone with a new camera, Force Touch, a better processor and the same price structure. NAILED IT! They renamed Force Touch 3D touch, but its there. I thought there would be a new Apple TV with gaming. NAILED IT! I thought there may be an iPad Pro coming. NAILED IT! Didn’t see the Apple Pencil coming, but whatevs.
My Brief Takeaways
- if you were thinking about buying a phone, get the 6s or 6s+. Even though the 6 is my phone, and I love it, I would get the 6s if I were up for an upgrade. The 3D touch is a big upgrade and many developers will use it
- The Apple TV is the winner. Good Price, great features and a serious upgrade to what is currently available. This is what I will get before anything else announced this week
- The iPad Pro is what the Surface wants to be. It is expensive and, like the Surface, the keyboard and stylus (i mean Pencil) is extra. If you are someone who needs a larger tablet that isn’t a laptop, then by all means go for the Pro. I will enjoy my iPad Air 2.
- iOS9 Release date is September 16th. If you want to make sure bugs are out, wait until 9.1 (or the update…whatever the number will be). If you are me, download ASAP.
- El Capitan (new OS X) will be released on September 30. Check your laptop (and software!) before you upgrade
